Sparx is a great little shooter project from Jacob Jerrik. Control your claw with WASD and aim with the mouse as hordes of enemies attack - watch the sparks fly as you blast the hell out of them. It's still in progress but whats there now is already fun. Pure Java 2D by the looks of things which makes it doubly impressive in my books.
